The Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB) funds original research across all areas of animal behaviour within the scope of its journal, Animal Behaviour. Research Grants support promising pilot studies that are too early to attract larger-agency funding, and worthwhile small-scale projects unlikely to secure support elsewhere. Grants can also enable collaborative research through travel to a collaborator or visits to the applicant’s institution.
ASAB’s Grants Committee, a subcommittee of Council, assesses research quality, relevance, likely impact, feasibility, and links to previous work, including future directions for pilot studies. The programme prioritises inclusion in the research community and meaningful engagement with local researchers and partners when projects take place in developing countries.
