Supports basic science research into the mechanisms, etiology, and pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis to inform prevention and therapy development.
Funder: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Due Dates (Anticipated): May 2027 (Full application deadline, projected)
Funding Amounts: Up to $150,000 per year (plus 12% indirect costs) for up to 2 years; possible renewal.
Summary: Supports basic science research to advance understanding of cystic fibrosis etiology and pathogenesis.
This program provides funding to support hypothesis-driven basic science studies that further the understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis (CF). Projects may focus on subcellular, cellular, animal, or patient-level research and should present sufficient preliminary data to justify support. The Foundation prioritizes research that addresses mechanisms of CF disease, pathophysiology, and the development of preventative or therapeutic strategies. Proposals that focus on restoring CFTR protein function or gene replacement should be submitted through other specific Foundation programs.
