The Foundation for Neonatal Research and Education (FNRE) offers research grants to professionally active neonatal nurses, including neonatal nursing students. The program supports research connected to the health care of neonates and the neonatal nursing profession. FNRE was established in 1992 to ensure ongoing funding for neonatal research and support neonatal nursing education.
Grants support individual research projects led by a principal investigator. Applicants explain the study’s relevance to neonatal nursing, its research questions, methods, and anticipated completion schedule. The research plan should demonstrate the investigator’s ability to carry out the work. Complexity is not a major funding consideration; clarity and conciseness are important. Investigators with limited research experience are expected to consult a mentor.
