The Malacological Society of London’s Research Grants scheme supports research on molluscs that is likely to lead to publication. Established to commemorate the Society’s centenary in 1993, it offers Early Career Research Grants and Senior Research Grants. Projects must fall within the subject areas covered by the Society’s journal, Journal of Molluscan Studies, with preference given to discrete research rather than components of larger projects.
Applications are assessed for scientific merit, significance, budget justification, and the benefit to the applicant’s scientific aspirations. Proposed work should explain its contribution to malacology. Successful Early Career projects studying Bivalvia may receive recognition as Sir Charles Maurice Yonge Awards. Recipients share their results through an article in the Society’s newsletter, The Malacologist.
