Description
The University of Colorado Boulder’s Research & Innovation Office (RIO) administers this seed grant program to catalyze bold ideas, interdisciplinary collaborations, and high-impact research, scholarship, and creative activity. It welcomes high-risk, high-reward initiatives that combine diverse expertise, develop partnerships, and lay the foundation for larger collaborative efforts.
The program supports work across disciplines, including fields not traditionally associated with sponsored research. Priorities include generating new knowledge, addressing societal challenges, attracting follow-on funding, and strengthening CU Boulder’s research and creative enterprise. Successful projects demonstrate a clear pathway to sustained growth and lasting university value. Projects establishing or leveraging external partnerships are particularly welcomed.
