Description
The Research Matching Grant Scheme (RMGS) aims to incentivize non-public sector support for research and development (R&D), diversify research funding sources in Hong Kong's higher education sector, and foster collaboration between academia and industry. The 2025–2029 round allocates HK$1.5 billion in matching grants to eligible universities and institutions, supporting a wide range of research-related expenditures across all academic disciplines. The scheme is designed to match donations and research grants/contracts from non-governmental and non-public sectors, encouraging greater private sector investment in R&D.
