Description
The Research Matching Grant Scheme (RMGS), administered through the University Grants Committee (UGC) Secretariat and Research Grants Council, matches non-public-sector support for research at participating Hong Kong universities and degree-awarding institutions. The new four-year round seeks to strengthen non-public investment in research and development, diversify higher education research funding, and encourage collaboration with industry and other community sectors.
All academic disciplines are covered, but funding must serve specific research-related purposes. Supported work includes research projects, equipment and technology licences, research patent applications, dedicated research staff, research facilities, institution-monitored researcher and student activities, and research fellowships or awards. Eligible contributions may come from local or non-local non-public funding sources.
