Description

The Leverhulme Trust’s Research Project Grants support high-quality, original research led by a Principal Investigator who chooses the theme and designs the project. Grants are paid to the investigator’s employing institution and cover staff working directly on the research and associated costs needed to carry it out.

The Trust favours compelling research designs that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries or take appropriate risks, although projects need not be interdisciplinary. Reviewers and the Trust’s Board consider why Leverhulme is the appropriate funder. Work directed at clinical or medical applications, immediate policy initiatives or commercial applications falls outside the Trust’s remit.
