Description
The Paul Mellon Centre’s Research Project Grants support organisations undertaking ambitious and sustained research into British art, visual culture and architecture. Funding must contribute to a clearly defined outcome or significantly advance a larger research project. Collaborative applications are welcomed, including seed funding for two or more organisations to establish research together.
The programme supports major research with public-facing outcomes or a lasting legacy, such as exhibitions, digital projects, catalogues or similar dissemination. Funding is directed towards research staff and activities that facilitate research, rather than delivering the final outcome. Priorities include academic rigour, originality, long-term contributions to scholarship, and work in geographical or cultural contexts not previously supported by the Centre. Impact and inclusion matter, particularly research involving voices or audiences underrepresented in British art studies.
