Description
The Research Scientist Award, administered through SIR Foundation, recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of PhD scientists and engineers conducting basic and preclinical research in interventional radiology (IR). It honors original scientific work by allied scientists outside the clinical realm that is expected to influence the practice of IR. Eligible career stages include graduate and postgraduate non-clinical training and the first seven years after a PhD or equivalent degree.
The award connects research recognition with participation in the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting, where recipients present their accepted research orally. Support consists of meeting registration and a travel stipend rather than project research funding. Recipients are also expected to participate in the SIR Foundation Awards Ceremony Plenary session.
