Description
Princeton University’s Research Software Engineer (RSE) Co-Funding Program supports partnerships between research teams and professional software engineers through Research Computing. RSEs help address software challenges that limit scientific or scholarly progress, bringing expertise in software engineering, high-performance computing, data-intensive research, AI-enabled workflows, reproducibility, sustainability, and computational infrastructure.
The program has supported research software partnerships across Princeton since 2016. Its competitive funding cycles aim to maximize research impact and broaden access to limited RSE resources. This call accepts both new requests and renewals of existing co-funded awards. Priorities include clear opportunities for software-driven research impact, a demonstrated need for professional RSE expertise, and achievable software deliverables. The program also values student and postdoctoral engagement, benefits beyond the initial project, and lasting value through wider adoption, continued development, extensibility, and maintainability.
