Description
Administered through SIR Foundation, the Research Training Award helps investigators visit a research laboratory at another educational institution to acquire research knowledge, skills, techniques, and new methodologies. It supports training in animal research studies and basic science or bench research, with an emphasis on learning techniques or procedures not practiced at the applicant’s home institution.
The award supports a focused exchange of research skills rather than a standalone research project. Applicants identify a host institution and the specific technique they will learn, supported by a mentor who provides the necessary equipment or materials. Training travel is supported at locations in the United States and Canada. Human-subjects research and exchanges of techniques for human-subjects research are not eligible.
