The Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR), through its Education and Training Committee, offers Research Training Grants to help graduate students and postdoctoral researchers develop methodological skills needed for their future research. The program supports mentored training in psychophysiological methods that are not available at the applicant’s home institution.

Applicants propose a structured training plan with one or more outside sponsors who are experts in the methods they want to learn. Training may involve visiting a sponsor’s laboratory, meeting remotely, or combining in-person and virtual activities. The program emphasizes significant research questions, alignment with long-term research interests, and clear objectives with measurable milestones. Sponsors should have defined roles in teaching new skills and tracking the applicant’s progress.
