The ACVO Vision for Animals Foundation offers annual research grants to residents in ABVO-approved veterinary ophthalmology programs. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and advances animal eye health through science and education. This program supports projects conducted primarily by residents, with mentorship and clearly defined contributions from collaborators and technical personnel.
Funding focuses on direct research costs, including supplies, materials, limited equipment, publication, statistical support, and limited technical assistance. Supported work includes clinical investigations and laboratory research relevant to animal vision and ocular disease. Recent projects have examined bacterial keratitis, treatments for refractory canine dry eye, and dogs’ responses to virtual media. Scientific merit, relevance to animal health, and animal welfare inform proposal selection.
