Description
The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) administers the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program to help state and local governments develop treatment in correctional and detention settings. Funding supports residential, jail-based, and aftercare programs, including treatment services beyond those a prison or jail is already required to provide.
The program aims to prepare participants for community reintegration through substance abuse treatment, skills development, and referral to appropriate evidence-based aftercare after release. Residential programs target people assessed as medium or high risk. Programs emphasize therapeutic communities separated from the general correctional population where possible; jail-based treatment must be science-based.
