Description
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy administers RSAT to develop and implement substance use disorder treatment in Maryland correctional and detention facilities and support community reintegration after release. The program serves pretrial defendants, incarcerated individuals, and people needing post-incarceration treatment. Its goal is to break the cycle of drugs and violence by reducing demand for, use, and trafficking of illegal drugs.
RSAT supports residential, jail-based, and aftercare programs, incorporating reentry planning and continuity of care into treatment. Priorities include evidence-based treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, access to FDA-approved medications for opioid use disorder, and community-based recovery supports. Applications involving partnerships with community-based substance use treatment programs receive priority consideration.
