Description
Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Watershed & Climate Services administers Resilience through Restoration through the FY2028 Grants Gateway. The program supports local governments and nonprofits designing habitat restoration projects that reduce community flood risk or erosion impacts while enhancing natural features. Funding comes from the state Resilience through Restoration Fund and the federal NOAA Maryland Coastal Zone Management Award.
Supported work includes natural and nature-based shoreline restoration, floodplain restoration, beneficial use of dredged material, tidal and nontidal wetland restoration, dune and beach restoration, and green infrastructure such as rain gardens and bioswales. Projects should restore, enhance, or create habitat while providing community-wide benefits and protecting infrastructure or community assets. The current cycle supports design and permitting rather than construction.
