Description
This strategic research opportunity forms part of the Resilient Economy and Security through Ecosystem Transitions (RESET) programme, co-funded, co-designed and co-delivered by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Defra. It supports interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research into how, when and why ecosystems transition, reorganise or collapse, and how these changes affect ecosystem functions, resilience and society.
Projects may study natural or semi-natural ecosystems in the UK or overseas. Research should generate evidence, methods and models that help anticipate transitions, understand cascading risks and manage change to minimise harm to people and society. Outputs will contribute to the RESET hub and wider programme, informing biodiversity action and decisions that sustain ecosystem functions, strengthen economic prosperity and societal resilience, and protect national security.
