Description
The Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) Program is administered in New Mexico by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) through a cooperative agreement with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service. Launched in spring 2023 and scheduled to run through 2027, it addresses middle-of-the-supply-chain infrastructure needs and bridges gaps in existing federal funding programs.
Competitive Infrastructure Grants support expanded capacity for aggregation, processing, manufacturing, storage, transportation, wholesaling, and distribution of locally and regionally produced foods. Covered products include specialty crops, dairy, grains for consumption, aquaculture, and other foods, excluding meat and poultry. The program aims to benefit consumers, producers, and rural communities by increasing access and creating new, more, and better markets for small and mid-size producers.
