    Description

Restore America’s Estuaries administers SNEP Watershed Implementation Grants through a funding partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 1. The annual, competitive program supports locally based projects, programs, and partnerships addressing water pollution, habitat degradation, and other high-priority environmental challenges in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Its central focus is integrated water quality and ecosystem restoration, linking clean water and healthy habitats with resilient ecosystems and sustainable communities.

Supported work includes stormwater management, wetland and shoreline restoration, dam removal, shellfish restoration, water quality monitoring, watershed planning, and innovative pollution-reduction technologies, financing, and policy. SWIG emphasizes strong partnerships, local capacity-building, and innovation, supporting both transformative restoration projects and neighborhood-scale initiatives. It also promotes information-sharing so communities and restoration practitioners can apply lessons from funded projects across the region.
