Description
The RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme (JRFS), formerly the RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme, supports promising local and non-local researchers at a pivotal stage of their early careers. Run by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council, it aims to nurture research talent, advance research and development in Hong Kong, and foster a research culture through full-time postdoctoral appointments at UGC-funded universities.
The scheme covers all academic disciplines through two streams: Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Studies; and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Technology. It selects 60 awardees annually and supports their transition, where applicable, to Assistant Professor or Research Assistant Professor positions during the fellowship. Selection is merit-based, with no preset allocation of places between the streams.
