The RGC Research Fellow Scheme (RFS) and Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS) are prestigious annual fellowships offered by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. They aim to provide substantial research funding and significant relief from teaching and administrative duties for outstanding academics at UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong. The RFS targets mid-career researchers at Associate Professor rank, while the SRFS is for senior researchers at full Professor rank. Both schemes are designed to foster high-impact research, academic leadership, and the training of early career researchers in Hong Kong.
Awardees receive the title of "RGC Research Fellow" or "RGC Senior Research Fellow" and are expected to dedicate themselves to research and mentoring for the full five-year fellowship period.
