Description
The Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC) awards Collaborative Research Grants through the STAC Research Alliance, a statewide platform launched in 2006 to connect research organizations. The program supports a catalytic stage of interdisciplinary, interorganizational research with strong prospects for substantial follow-on investment or significant potential for technology development and commercialization.
For FY27, grants support teams across Rhode Island’s research colleges and universities, research hospitals, businesses, and government agencies. Projects must demonstrate results that the institutions could not achieve individually. The program seeks to expand research capacity and infrastructure, strengthen competitiveness for additional funding, and contribute to Rhode Island’s economic development. Priorities include ocean technology, coastal sciences, organizational infrastructure for NSF EPSCoR E-RISE teams, and growth areas in the state’s Science & Technology Plan.
