Description
Administered by Humboldt Area Foundation + Wild Rivers Community Foundation (HAF+WRCF), this program supports the costs of bringing Humboldt County students out of the classroom and into their communities. It accepts applications for all types of field trips, with select funding dedicated to transportation for educational visits to local natural areas. Support comes from the Ride to the Wild Fund and the Edward L. & Joan Nilsen Fund.
Bill and Melissa Zielinski established Ride to the Wild to help young people develop an understanding of environmental issues and appreciate how protecting natural places enhances quality of life. The fund supports outings that increase students’ knowledge and awareness of nature. Ed and Joan Nilsen established their leadership fund in December 1994.
