Description
The Rising Stars in Urology Research Awards help urologists pursue careers as both surgical specialists and scientists. Administered by the American Urological Association (AUA) Office of Research, with funding from the Urology Care Foundation and partner sponsors, the program supplements salaries for physician-scientists who have successfully competed for NIH or other major career development awards. Its goal is to stabilize protected research time and make compensation more competitive with that of clinical urology peers.
The program supports research into causes, prevention, treatment, and cures for urologic diseases and conditions. Applicants may propose any type of urologic research. The Foundation encourages work addressing gaps identified in AUA clinical guidelines that could improve patient care, although these topics do not automatically receive a competitive advantage.
