Summary: Supports human-sample validation studies and clinical trials advancing affordable, scalable early lung cancer detection in low- and middle-income countries.
Key Information: Principal investigators must be based in an LMIC, and patient partners must have active project governance roles.
Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research (RTFCCR) and LUNGevity Foundation jointly support validation studies on human samples and clinical trials to improve early lung cancer detection in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The program seeks innovative, affordable and scalable approaches that overcome the cost, infrastructure and clinical expertise barriers limiting access to conventional screening.
Projects should demonstrate clinical relevance, respond to patient needs, prioritize cost-effectiveness across diverse health systems, and include strategies for rapid implementation in clinical practice. Biomarker-based detection methods, including blood-based and non-invasive approaches, are highlighted as promising options for resource-limited settings. Patient partnership is central: partners participate from research-question development through dissemination, with specific responsibilities and an active role in project governance.
