Description
The River Valley Health Fund is administered by the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV) to improve the health and well-being of Ohio Valley residents. It was established following the sale of Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital to Alecto Healthcare Hospitals, a for-profit health care system, to continue the formerly nonprofit hospitals’ charitable outreach.
The fund supports health education and services, particularly for vulnerable children, at-risk elderly people, and indigent populations. Its priorities also include education about health care and nutrition, health screenings, addressing food insecurity, and providing primary medical and dental care. Grants support eligible organizations based in or serving the fund’s specified Ohio Valley communities.
