The Robertson Engagement Grant is administered by the African Studies Association (ASA) to help emerging and underfunded scholars access its Annual Meeting, resources, and career-advancing networking opportunities. It supports current MA and PhD students and junior faculty attending the meeting for the first time who have an interest in engaging with the ASA Women’s Caucus. The award combines membership, meeting registration, and travel support rather than funding a separate research project.
Established in 2025 through a gift from Dr. Claire Robertson, the grant is one of three opportunities supported by the Robertson Fund. Robertson is a founding member and former co-convener of the Women’s Caucus. The program connects first-time meeting participation with involvement in both the association and the caucus.
