The Robotic Thoracic Surgery Equity and Access Award, offered by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education in partnership with The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Intuitive Inc., aims to foster equitable access to advanced thoracic care. This program provides general thoracic surgeons and final-year cardiothoracic surgery residents—especially those who have overcome adversity, demonstrate financial need, or serve rural/underserved populations—with mentorship and immersive, hands-on robotic surgery training. The award supports travel to Intuitive training facilities and to a mentor’s institution, with structured mentorship visits and advanced educational experiences designed to help recipients develop or expand a robotic general thoracic surgery practice.
