Description
This award, offered by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education in partnership with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and with support from Intuitive Inc., is designed to empower general thoracic surgeons and late-stage cardiothoracic surgery residents who have overcome adversity, demonstrate financial need, or serve rural or medically underserved populations. The program provides a unique educational experience focused on building and expanding a robotic general thoracic surgical practice. Recipients observe and receive mentorship from established robotic thoracic surgeons, participate in hands-on training at Intuitive-affiliated facilities, and engage in a structured mentorship and proctoring program. The award aims to foster professional growth and increase access to advanced thoracic surgical care in underserved areas.
