    Description

The European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR) and the Deutsche Stiftung Kranke Neugeborene (DSKN) jointly endow this annual award in memory of Professor Roland R. Wauer, a neonatologist, scientist and teacher committed to supporting young scientists. The program fosters clinical and scientific exchange in neonatology, with the goal of ensuring cutting-edge care for premature and sick newborns.

The award enables medical students to spend one to two months at a European neonatal clinic with excellent clinical care and strong research. Participants observe the routines of a neonatology ward in a perinatal centre and define learning objectives with a local supervisor according to their training and previous knowledge. Rather than prescribing a fixed framework, the organisers encourage participants to pursue their own ideas and share their experiences.
