    Description

The Ronald Barnes Memorial Grant is administered by the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA) to promote the growth and vitality of North American carillon culture. It supports projects and research in carillon performance, composition, music history, and instrument design in North America. Proposals must explain their benefit to North American carillon art, identify their primary audience, and establish project goals and criteria for success.

Established in 1998 and first awarded in 2007, the fund honors Ronald Barnes, whose compositions and musicological research helped establish a North American approach to the instrument over nearly 50 years. The Ronald Barnes Memorial Grant Committee reviews applications, with jurors appointed annually by the GCNA Board of Directors.
