The Rose and Sigmund Strochlitz Fellowship provides travel support for scholars and researchers at any career stage to work with the University of Connecticut Library’s Archives & Special Collections. Supported by an endowment established by Sigmund Strochlitz, the fellowship enables direct consultation of archival materials for proposed research projects. Priority goes to applicants who demonstrate a research need for materials available in the collections.
The program gives particular consideration to work using designated holdings in Connecticut citizen advocacy, Latin American political and social movements, Black arts programming, disability and domestic labor, railroad engineering, and industrial history. Other highlighted collections support research on poetry, experimental artists’ books, Montessori education, children’s illustration, and avant-garde literature. These holdings include correspondence, manuscripts, recordings, photographs, technical records, and other primary materials.
