    Description

The Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI) administers this small grant scheme to support postgraduate research in biological anthropology. Its Trustees make awards annually, with preference given to human population biology, human genetics, human ethology and palaeoanthropology. Support may cover fieldwork or research activities involving analytical techniques, such as dating or sequencing.

The scheme aims to help graduate students undertake research and document their findings. Referee assessments play an important role in selection, addressing the applicant’s ability to complete the project and report its results, the project’s originality and relevance, and the feasibility of its methods and timescale. Award holders must provide fieldwork and final research reports to the Trustees.
