The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) offers Microgrants to support new research projects and exploratory ideas in nineteenth-century British and empire periodical studies. Established in response to RSVP’s 2025 member survey, the scheme provides small pockets of support for existing or exploratory projects. Funding comes through the generosity of the late Eileen Curran, Professor Emerita of English at Colby College, and is inspired by her pioneering research on Victorian periodicals.
The grants support practical activities that facilitate original research: access to digital archives or tools, travel to local archives, purchasing periodicals for study, and short courses or workshops on relevant research methods. The focus is developing research rather than disseminating it; publication expenses, conference attendance, and other dissemination costs are excluded.
