Description
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), provides federal subawards to County and Tribal Veteran Service Offices to improve rural veterans’ access to telehealth. The program addresses barriers such as limited home broadband by supporting safe, convenient telehealth spaces, technology purchases, and education on using that technology.
Projects may establish private telehealth suites or lend digital devices to veterans for telehealth visits. Services predominantly connect veterans with federal Veterans Health Administration and Veterans Benefits Administration services, including medical examinations, therapies, programming, and Compensation & Pension examinations. Applicants may also include connections to local providers and mental health or wellness resources. Funding is dedicated to telehealth access rather than independent research and development.
