Description
Alaska Housing Finance Corporation’s Rural Professional Housing Grant Program addresses housing shortages that hinder recruitment and retention of essential professionals in rural Alaska. The state-funded program competitively supports acquisition, rehabilitation, and new construction of safe, affordable, sustainable rental housing for teachers, health professionals, public safety personnel, and their families.
RPH uses a gap-funding model, filling the difference between reasonable development costs and the financing a project can sustain. AHFC evaluates financial feasibility and may provide a combination of grant funds and permanent financing. The program encourages collaboration among community organizations, contributions from other funding sources, and cost-effective development that helps professionals locate in—and remain in—small communities.
