Description
The Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services administers this program with oversight from the Arkansas Rural Development Commission. Funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program, it supports facilities and fire-protection resources intended to improve quality of life in rural Arkansas.
Eligible work includes new construction or renovation of community centers, multi-purpose buildings, and fire stations. The program also funds fire trucks—including pumper, tanker, brush, and certain service trucks—specialized life-saving equipment such as jaws of life, and protective clothing for firefighters.
