Description
The S. Thomas Parker Memorial Fund, administered by the American Center of Research, supports a fellowship, field project, or event in Jordan. Established in 2022 through donations from Parker’s family and friends, it welcomes proposals across all areas of academic inquiry. Archaeological fieldwork and publication efforts receive preference, and the most compelling proposal receives the award.
The fund honors Parker’s contributions to classical archaeology, the archaeology of Jordan, and the center’s community. A specialist in the Roman Levant, he directed archaeological projects at Petra, Aqaba, and el-Lejjun and brought hundreds of students to Jordan for fieldwork experience. The fund continues this legacy of research, publication, and engagement with Jordan.
