Description
Williams College’s Sabbatical Salary Grant Program provides backstop salary funding for tenured faculty undertaking professional development and active scholarship during paid sabbatical leave. When external support is unavailable or insufficient, the program supplements the college’s standard 75% sabbatical salary to maintain the faculty member’s full base institutional salary. Support can apply to a semester-long mini-sabbatical or a year-long full sabbatical.
The college encourages external grant applications as a way to clarify a project’s contribution to scholarship, increase its visibility through peer review, and open research opportunities that may also benefit teaching. This internal program complements that effort rather than replacing external funding. Application instructions and the online form are provided through the Dean of the Faculty’s website.
