Key Information: Single-stage application; open to international consortia under Horizon Europe rules.
This funding opportunity supports research projects that advance the safeguarding and transmission of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) as defined by the 2003 UNESCO Convention. The call seeks projects that develop and evaluate methods for documenting and transmitting ICH, leveraging digital, audio-visual, and advanced technologies. Emphasis is placed on empowering communities—especially youth—for ownership and intergenerational transmission of ICH, and on proposing innovative policy solutions for safeguarding ICH and using it as a resource for social innovation and biodiversity protection.
The scope encourages transdisciplinary collaborations, building on existing research, networks, and digital platforms. Projects should investigate the role of ICH in creativity, innovation, and societal resilience, and address challenges such as the erosion and loss of ICH, effective safeguarding strategies, and the potential of community-led initiatives.
