Description
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Safety Grants program provides funding to state and local agencies, as well as qualified organizations, to implement programs and initiatives aimed at improving traffic safety and achieving the goal of zero fatalities on Illinois roadways. Grants support a wide range of evidence-based strategies in enforcement, education, and outreach, as identified in the Illinois Strategic Highway Safety Plan. Funding is distributed annually and is intended to address priority areas such as impaired driving, occupant protection, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, distracted driving, and other critical traffic safety issues.
