The Edilia and François-Auguste de Montêquin Fellowship is an annual research fellowship administered by the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH). It supports advanced doctoral students and senior or emerging scholars researching Spanish, Portuguese, or Ibero-American architecture. Its scope includes colonial architecture produced by Spaniards in the Philippines and in what is now the United States.
The fellowship supports research and related travel that advances scholarship in these fields. Applicants explain their project's originality, its relationship to current scholarship, and its potential contribution to further research. Established in 1990 through an endowment gift from François de Montêquin in memory of his mother, Edilia, the program also contributes to architectural documentation through fellows' written reports and image submissions to SAHARA.
