Description
The Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) runs the Salmon Recovery and Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration (PSAR) grant processes together. The Salmon Recovery Funding Board approves awards, and the Puget Sound Partnership co-manages PSAR. The programs aim to increase the extent and health of salmon habitat and, ultimately, salmon numbers. Projects may protect existing high-quality habitat, restore degraded areas, or address land and water processes that sustain fish habitat.
Supported work includes fish-passage improvements, streambank planting, floodplain and estuary restoration, habitat acquisition, and designs or assessments for future projects. Applicants must show how their work advances a regional recovery plan or watershed-based lead entity strategy. PSAR focuses on Puget Sound habitat priorities.
