Description
The San Joaquin River Conservancy Program supports creation of the San Joaquin River Parkway, an approximately 5,900-acre corridor along 22 miles of river between Friant Dam and State Route 99 in Fresno and Madera Counties. The Parkway is intended to preserve biological diversity, protect cultural and natural resources, and provide recreation and education for local communities and visitors.
The Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) administers the Conservancy’s bond-funded program grants, including project review, grant management, real estate transactions, and monitoring. Supported work includes acquiring property for conservation and public access, restoring habitat on public or private land, and improving recreational and educational access.
