The SBSM Scholars Award, administered by the Society for Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine, recognizes outstanding research abstracts accepted for presentation at its Annual Meeting. It supports students, residents, and fellows through one complimentary hotel night, tying the award to the scientific work presented in an accepted abstract rather than a separate research project.
Recognized work examines relationships among psychological experiences, social circumstances, biological processes, and physical health. Recent winning abstracts address role strain and depressive symptoms among Black youth, inflammation and pain in women with breast cancer, sleep health from pregnancy to postpartum, and interventions for depression in primary care. The award highlights research on how emotional, behavioral, and social factors relate to health and disease.
