Summary: Supports evidence-based academic and career development interventions for at-risk South Carolina students in grades 3–12.
Key Information: Only South Carolina school districts may apply, serving up to three schools per application.
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), through its Office of Career Services, administers this competitive grant using funds set aside under the Education and Economic Development Act of 2005. The program supports evidence-based strategies and models addressing the academic and career development needs of students with academic deficiencies who risk being poorly prepared for further study or dropping out.
Projects should help participating students progress academically and ultimately meet the criteria in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, codified in Act 195 of 2016. Supported activities may occur during school, after school, or during summer months. Projects must target a defined cohort rather than implement whole-school reform, connecting interventions to academic readiness, promotion, dropout prevention, and high school graduation.
