Description
The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships support outstanding early-career researchers undertaking independent research in the humanities and social sciences. Administered by the Academy and funded by the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT), the non-renewable, three-year awards prioritise completing a significant piece of publishable research. Fellows also strengthen their research and teaching experience within an academic environment.
The scheme aims to integrate fellows into established scholarly communities, develop their curriculum vitae and improve their prospects of securing permanent academic posts. Research careers in other research organisation settings are also acceptable outcomes. Proposals may use varied methodologies and outputs, including creative or professional practice, but must provide a clear scholarly rationale for their methods, processes and outputs. Interdisciplinary projects involving subjects outside the humanities and social sciences are welcome within the scheme’s remit.
