Key Information: An individual may receive a Scholar’s Award only once.
The Truman Library Institute’s Scholar’s Award supports established postdoctoral scholars working on Harry S. Truman’s life and career or on public and foreign policy issues prominent during the Truman years. Its purpose is to free a senior scholar from teaching or other employment for a substantial period, allowing concentrated research and writing toward a book-length manuscript.
Projects should be grounded in part in extensive research at the Truman Library and explain their significance within the larger historiographical context. The award connects work in the Library’s collections with published scholarship on the Truman era. The Institute’s Committee on Research, Scholarship and Education oversees selection, with awards dependent on underwriting support and the strength of proposals.
