Description
The Utah State Board of Education administers this competitive grant for local education agencies (LEAs) implementing approved student mental health screening programs. Screening is intended to identify possible anxiety, depression, or suicidal ideation—not to diagnose students—and help connect students and families with support in schools or through outside providers. LEAs may choose which grades, classrooms, or schools to screen; they are not required to screen every student.
Funding can support screening implementation and reimbursement for qualifying parents when screening results indicate a student needs mental health resources unavailable in the school setting. Participating LEAs report screening activity, identified concerns, referrals, interventions, and use of funds to the state board.
