Description
The South Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs (OHSJP) administers state funds for full-time certified law enforcement officers to serve as school resource officers (SROs). The program is intended for school districts that otherwise lack adequate resources to hire their own officers. School districts identify the schools needing coverage and coordinate with law enforcement agencies, which apply to implement the positions.
The open solicitation requests salary, employer contributions, training, and equipment for new state-funded SRO positions not previously awarded. The separate annual solicitation, typically available in January or February, also covers continued funding for existing state-funded positions, training, replacement equipment, and new positions.
