Description
The Fulbright Scholar Program supports teaching and combined teaching/research placements at South African universities and universities of technology. Scholars teach undergraduate or graduate courses and contribute to curriculum development, research supervision, thesis advising, and tutorials as needed with their hosts. Research may be proposed by the scholar or designated by the host institution.
The program aims to strengthen South African graduate education, support collaborative research, and build lasting U.S.–South Africa institutional links. Priority fields are agriculture, computer science, engineering, environmental sciences, geology, global/public health, information sciences/systems, physics, and astronomy. Scholars may also be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and engage with host communities to promote international understanding and cooperation.
